How did you get started in health and fitness?
I have been taking dance classes of all styles since I was two years old. I realized at a young age that I loved to move and I loved being in shape. I started teaching dance classes at 16 in my home town and soon moved to Pittsburgh PA to study modern Dance. While obtaining my B.A. in dance from Point Park University I was advised to cross train in other forms of fitness and movement to learn more about the human anatomy. I started to understand the benefits of cross training, and how it help maintain a healthy and stronger body. In College I was introduced to Pilates, Yoga and Barre. It was amazing to learn how dance, yoga and Pilates all support each other and this hooked me!
What is your favorite class to teach?
The classes that gets me most excited to teach are the Barre classes and also would love to teach the Body classes one day as well. These two are most comfortable to me because of my dance background. Specifically what I like about these two classes is the intensity, the amount of material covered, and the thought out repetition that targets certain muscle groups. I love all the classes offered at InBalance, and I believe in the wide variety that is offered, and I think that all of the classes should be tried by every person at least once because they each have something specific and special to offer.
What do you want every person to get out of your class?
What I want everyone to get out of my class is self satisfaction in knowing that they made an effort to improve themselves. Ultimately I do want everyone to feel they had a great workout that challenged their body and mind, while waking up the next day and feeling their hard work paying off! I hope the people taking my class feel comfortable and accepted knowing that the hardest part is getting yourself into the studio, because the human body and mind in conjunction are incredibly strong when tested! I love the people that give a good effort in class because that inspires me to try my very best!
