Where were you born and raised?
I was born in a small town in New Hampshire. It was my husband’s work which brought us to San Antonio, and we love it, as the warmer climate means we can ride our motorcycles almost all year long.
How did you get started in health and fitness?
I have always tried to lead an active lifestyle because I believe it’s essential to a long and fun life. My first passion was Tae Kwon Do, but not long after earning my black belt, an injury had me searching for a gentle recovery tool, and I turned to yoga. Yoga strengthened my body, increased my flexibility, and brought me relaxation that followed me off my mat and through my day. I love my yoga, what it’s done for my body and my mind, so I trained to become RYT-200 certified from the Esther Vexler Yoga School. I am also certified in AFAA Group Exercise, Practical Yoga, Yoga Essentials I and II, and the Silver Sneakers FLEX program.
What is your favorite class to teach?
It’s difficult for me to choose a favorite class to teach… I enjoy seeing students feel empowered by a strong flow class, or seeing them find the tranquility of a restorative class.
What do you want every person to get out of your class?
My goal is to have each student find a mentally refreshing, physically challenging workout that accommodates their personal challenges so they can enjoy a long-term fitness lifestyle.
